Frequently Asked Questions
  1. Get saved? Get saved from what?

Get saved from the monotony of searching your whole life for something that really matters! Get saved from a confrontation with death that you can’t win! Get saved from an eternity of separation from a loving, holy God. Here’s the deal. God loves you and wants you to live with Him forever. He loves you so much he lets you choose whether you want to live with him or not.

There’s a problem. Because he is holy, only holiness can be with him. Holiness is sinless perfection. The first time we lie, or cheat, or steal, or hurt someone else, we fail to be sinless. We fail to be perfect. That means we can’t be with God anymore. The problem is that when you die, and you will die, you get to meet God. If you’re unholy then, you’ve got a big problem.

Here’s the good news though. Because God still wants us to be with him, God made a way for every one of us who fail to still be holy. God’s word, the bible says “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” You see, it’s about his love for us. In another place it says “For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.” Jesus sacrifice for sin provided a way for you to be holy in God’s eyes. Think of Jesus as a sin shield. In Jesus you can be with God. Jesus can save you from separation from God.

  2. Aren’t you really just saying that if I sin, God is going to send me to HELL! What kind of loving God sends people to hell?!

The first time you sin, you rebel against God’s holiness and CHOOSE to go to hell. He’s not sending you to hell! He’s done everything possible to stop you from going there voluntarily! Hey, hell is a real place, but no one really knows completely what it’s like there. All we really know about it is that it is where God isn’t. The only way for you to avoid hell is to realize that there is only one way to escape it. It’s through Jesus.

  3. I know I’m not perfect. Sure, I’ve done some things that aren’t right. But I’m still better than most people. Doesn’t God give me credit for good stuff I do? If I do more good than bad, won’t God give me a pass?

It’s not really a question of how good you are compared to someone else. It’s a question of how good you are compared to God. Because God is perfect, only perfection can be in his presence. Even by saying you do more good than bad is an admission that you’re not perfect. There’s only one way to be with God. It’s through Jesus.

  4. I don’t get it. How can some guy dying on a cross some 2000 years ago have any affect on me today?

This one is hard to grasp. Even the bible says, “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” Getting saved is entirely based on a promise. You have to believe God will do what he promises. That’s called faith. God knew what it would take to fix a broken relationship with him. He’s the one that offered Jesus as the remedy for your imperfection. God promises that “… everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” “The Lord” is Jesus. Jesus says “I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved.” You have to know Jesus.

  5. How can Jesus be some kind of gate if he died some 2000 years ago.

You know, this whole discussion is about death and separation from God. If Jesus is still dead, then I guess he couldn’t beat death. You have to conclude that he couldn’t satisfy God either. But wait, Jesus isn’t still dead. He beat death and rose from the dead.

  6. Really? Rose from the dead? Is there any evidence of that?

If Jesus was really still dead, don’t you think someone by now would have come up with a body? Look at history. Many people have tried to snuff out Christianity. The easiest, quickest way to snuff it out is to simply produce a body.

  7. What other evidence is there?

If you look at Jesus’ followers after he was crucified, they were all scared they would be killed too. Then they reported having seen Jesus alive. After that, they were willing to die rather than disown him. What else could have had such a dramatic effect on them? If you don’t believe that, consider that if they were just trying to “save face” someone would have been able to discredit Christianity by now. But even today, Christians are willing to die for their beliefs and many do in various parts of the world.

  8. Any other evidence that Jesus is alive today?

The greatest source of evidence for the fact that Jesus is alive today is the millions of people who have experienced his transforming power in their lives. Sure, there are a lot of people you hear about that say they know Jesus who are really fakes. But there are millions of people who could tell you first hand how he’s changed their lives. A few are on our testimonies link. Check them out.

  9. How does this "get saved" thing work? What am I supposed to do?

You’re not the first person to ask that question. In John 6:28-29, the bible says, “Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?" Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent." That means you have to believe that Jesus will save you. For him to save you though, you need to recognize you need saving. That means you need to admit that God is holy and you are not. And, because you’re not, you’re walking away from God and will one day die apart from him. Once you see your need, all you need to do is ASK Jesus to save you. Jesus wants to save you. You just have to believe he will. That’s faith. You ask him by praying to him. He’ll hear you from your heart.

  10. If I get saved, will I get some magical feeling, or suddenly feel different?

Repenting of your sins and asking to Jesus to save you takes faith. It’s not magic. Some people DO feel a great sense of relief and freedom. Some don’t. Faith means accepting the truth whether your feelings confirm it or not! If I’m driving down the road at 100 mph in a fancy car and can’t feel it, does that mean that I’m not driving at 100 mph? Sometimes our feelings betray us.
